Lonavala: Trek to Korigad and Kune falls
Kune falls is a breathtaking waterfall in the heart of lonavala khandala valley. It is a beautiful sight as one sees this waterfall after coming out of the last tunnel to enter lonavala while travelling from mumbai to pune. The waterfall is in 2 sections and each part is around 100 meters high. One has to to leave the mumbai pune expresway at the lonavala bypass and take the old mumbai pune highway for around 10 minutes. Kune missionary/church is a good landmark to reach the falls.
Korigad is a very simple fort trek with some beautiful views of surrounding areas including some nice views of the exotic Amby valley developed by Sahara. Korigad is the best way to introduce people to hiking and treks as it has hardly 100 odd steps and is a 45 minutes trek. Korigad is near peth-shahpur village which is 35 KMs from lonavala and around 25 kms from Bhushi Dam. Lifts and local jeeps are the preferred way to reach this fort.
