The pic on this page is from the beautiful and picturesque Lohagad fort midway between Mumbai and Pune and 10 Kms from Lonavala. A moderate hike with steps most of the way to top, huge fort and the beautiful views of lakes around like Pawna make this a nice trekking place.
Chattrapati Shivaji ruled this fort for sometime and has a 2000 year old history. Adjoining Bhaja caves and Visapur fort are also worth a visit. Malavli railway station is the nearest place to visit this fort.

This place is mistaken as Kalamachal in Thiruvananthapuram District due to tons of emails forward floating around claiming "Welcome to Kalamachal, Vamanapuram (Thiruvananthapuram)". Though kerala has equally beautiful places the place mentionained in the forward email is misleading
