The pic on this page is from Hampi (recently declared as world heritage site) situated on the banks of tungabhadra in karnataka state, India was the glorious capital 700 years back of the Vijayanagara empire full of architecture and art wonders.
Even after 700 years the city stands with its wonderful stone buildings, palaces, halls, markets, temples, watchtowers and so on and visiting this place is a true time travel experience.
Hampi is mentioned in the epic Ramayana as kishkinda. The Movie "The Myth" starring Jackie Chan and Mallika Sherawat is also shot at Hampi.
Hampi is 500 KMs from bangalore. Nearest big town is Hospet.
